Well tonight was another successful night. First I was able to use the polar alignment scope for the
first time. It was actually really easy to use. I think i am was using it right, but I am not too
sure. Seeing conditions were not great tonight. For one thing the neighbors across the street had
their driveway lights all on, I guess they were expecting company. The other thing, there were some
high sirrus clouds creeping in. And thirdly, well, the GIANT bright light in the sky (aka the moon)
washed out any chance of DSO's. I did get to take some pictures tonight though. I took a bunch of
moon photo's and video. I was impressed with the quality of my Burgess 9mm SWA in combination with
my digital. Photos were amazing. *EMAIL ME FOR THEM* Next time out I hope to further my knowlege
of polar aligning, and use of the autostar controller.
-Must come up with some way of mounting the autostar to the mount.
Anyway, here is a pic of my new beauty.

10.16.05
First night with the new telescope was very successful. Remember to start setting up a little earlier
than last night. We set up at 7:00pm, a little late because it got pretty much dark in about 20min.
Only did a rough polar alignment. I have not used the polar alignment scope yet. The moon was at
about 90%, so DSO observing was pretty much out of the question. I did get to view some planets though.
Last night was the first time I was able to see Neptune and Uranus. Neptune gave off a tint of blue,
while Uranus was a greenish hugh. Later in the night around 11:00pm Mars was high enough in the sky to
see some land structure using a #23a red filter with my 9mm Burgess. The optics on the AR5 are really
quite good. The only bit of false color was extreme high power on mars, and with the moon. The Baader
fringe killer worked well in eliminating the false color. I was impressed with the fast movement of
the LXD-75 GOTO. And it was quite accurate. I think the accuracy problem (object was not perfectly
center) was do to my speedy set up. I dont think that was at exact north, but it was fine for what I
was doing. Next time out I hope to perfect the polar alignment and work more with some of the
autostar features. I did get a chance to snapshot the moon with my digital.
